Ingredients:
Onion - 1 (Large Size)
Whole Red Chillies - 5 to 6
Garlic Cloves - 4
Tamarind - 1 Small Amla Size.
Asafoetida/Hing - 1 Pinch
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp.
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp.
Curry Leaves - Few
Salt - To Taste
Oil - 2 tbsp.
Method:
Peel the skin off from the onion and chop it finely.Keep it aside.
Peel the skin off the garlic and chop it into half.Set it aside.
Heat a pan with a tbsp. of oil and add the chopped onions,garlic cloves,
whole red chillies,asafoetida/hing,tamarind and some salt.Saute it until
the onions are transculent.
Let it cool and grind into a smooth paste by adding water little-by-little.
Transfer it to a bowl.
Heat another pan with a tbsp. of oil and add mustard seeds and let it pop.
When it splutters,add cumin seeds,urad dal and curry leaves and fry for
few minutes.
Add the above seasoning to the chutney and serve it with idli or dosa.
