Channa Masala - Method 1

Ingredients:
Chick Peas/Channa - 1 Cup
Onions - 2 (Medium Size)
Tomatoes - 3 to 4 (Small Size)
Ginger-garlic Paste - 1 tbsp.
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.
Red Chilli Powder - 1 tsp.
Channa Masala - 2 tsp.
Garam Masala - 1/2 tsp.
Lemon Juice -  1 tsp.
Coriander Leaves - Few (For Garnishing)
Salt - According To Taste
Vegetable Oil/Olive Oil  - 2 tbsp.

Seasoning Ingredients:
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp.
Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp.
Curry Leaves - Few

Method :

Soak channa/chickpeas overnight.On the next day,pressure cook the chickpeas with
some turmeric powder and salt for 2 whistles.The channa should be 3/4 th cooked and
not fully cooked.

Chop onions and tomatoes finely.Grind ginger and garlic together into a paste.Keep it
aside.

Heat a pan with some vegetable oil/olive oil and add mustard seeds and let it crack.

Then add cumin seeds,urad dal and curry leaves and fry for few seconds.

Add finely chopped onions and a pinch of salt and fry till the onions are transculent.

Add ginger-garlic paste and fry till the raw smell goes away.

Add finely chopped tomatoes and a pinch of salt and saute till the tomatoes are mushy.

Now add red chilli powder,channa masala and stir it well.Check for seasoning.

If required,add some more salt and spices.Mix it well.

Allow to cook until the mixture is dry.

Then add the cooked chickpeas along with the water and stir it well.

Let it cook for another 5 mins.

A minute before removing from the stove,add garam masala and few drops of
lemon juice and mix it well.

Garnish with some coriander leaves and serve it with chapathi/roti or bread.
