Cabbage Channa Dal

Ingredients:
Shredded Cabbage - 1 to 2 Cups
Channa Dal - 1/2 Cup
Onion - 1 (Medium)
Turmeric Powder - 1/4 tsp.
Red Chilli Powder - 2 tsp.
Curry Leaves - Few
Coriander Leaves - Few
Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp.
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp.
Urad Dal - 1/2 tsp.
Salt - To Taste
Oil - 1 tbsp.

Method:

Shred the cabbage finely.Keep it aside.

Chop the onion finely and set it aside.

Soak the channa dal in lukewarm water for 30 mins.

Drain the water from the soaked dal completely.

Pressure cook the cabbage and channa dal with some turmeric
powder and 1/4 cup of water for 2 whistles.

Wait for the pressure to release.

Heat a pan with some oil and season with mustards seeds and
let it pop.

Then add cumin seeds,urad dal and curry leaves and fry for
few seconds.

Add chopped onions and saute till its transculent.

Now add the cooked cabbage and channa dal,red chilli powder
and enough salt and stir it well.

Allow it cook till the water is completely evaporated.

Check for the seasoning before removing from the heat.

Garnish with some coriander leaves.

Serve the cabbage channa dal with chapathi/roti or plain rice.


Note : Green chillies can be substituted with red chilli powder.
